Sickle Cell Disease

SCD occurs among about 1 out of every 365 Black or African-American births and 1 out of every 16,300 Hispanic-American births.

About 1 in 13 Black or African-American babies is born with sickle cell trait.  Symptoms include pain crises and swelling of hands and feet, leg ulcers, vision problems, strokes and more.

Pancreatic Disease

Pancreatitis. Pancreatic Cancer.

Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency.

Diabetes Type 1 ,Type 2 and 3C.

These are ife-changing diagnoses that happen every day. Many studies suggest that environmental and socioeconomic factors have contributed to the increased risk of pancreas disease among African Americans.
